Did manage to beat the game last night. Final battle was slow. Not hard, because the trick is to just keep distant, block when she swings her sword, and throw a few spells when the sword is returning to her. But the only spell that is quick enough that actually does some damage to her is Magic Missile. And that does only a small amount of damage to her.

I am kinda wanting to replay some of my favorite classic games (Chrono Trigger for the <3) but I’ve also got a good number of games I haven’t played yet. Eh, we’ll see what I feel like, I suppose.

Oh, my seeds are starting to sprout! I’m super excited to see little plants coming out of the dirt.

I’ve been using a allergy pill (trying Alegra at the moment. It’s not enough for this time of year). Also using a nasal spray. That has been helping quite a bit, but my nose is getting sore from its use. I knew I was going to have problems when I needed to use it this morning at 9. Sure enough, I’m starting to feel the allergy symptoms hitting me. (Yesterday I didn’t need the nasal spray until about noonish, and was fine for the rest of the day. I think I’m about to have a rather miserable next couple hours.)

I was able to get a bit of writting in this morning. Getting ready to do some more work on Ninsei for the April-nano thingy in another week or two, so i had a bit of a scene pop into my head while i was driving yesterday.

story )

This is based on a strange, sad dream i had last night, names thinly changed, and the story itself altered slightly to make it more cohesive. VERY rough, but i don't know if this is really something i want to work on enough to fix up. Still, it was so vivid a dream, i had to write it down.

I 'wrote' the story on saturday, in my car, with my mini-recorder that is in my car for that very reason, and just transcribed it, and fixed it up. This is a very slightly fictionalized version of what happened on thursday night when i went to get comics. I found it entertaining, I hope you do too.

I was startled awake to find my right arm, a little below my elbow, was a brick—heavy and cold. It was the odd sensation, the lack of feeling, the heaviness.

I struggled to flex my hand as best I could with the lack of felling. ‘Flex’ I told my hand, and the first few times I could only assume my hand was listening, for I could not feel it. My hand is as cold as that of a corpse.

‘Open, Hand. Close, Hand. Open. Close.’

Slowly I flexed. Slowly, I could feel the blood returning, though it was a struggle, as if I had to push the blood down my veins.

‘Open. Close.’

At last feeling has returned, though I almost wish it hadn’t, as my hand aches from its previous lack of blood. ‘The pain will pass. Keep flexing.’ The pain does pass.

I tried to go back to sleep, but the ordeal fully woke me up. I stared up at the darkened ceiling opening and then closing my hand repeatedly. My wrist still felt tight, as if I hadd been practicing wrist grabs with ghost for a martial arts partner. I had to reposition myself a couple times so the blood would continue to flow to my hand; I didn’t want a repeat of what woke me up in the first place.

‘Open. Close.’

Night was slow to pass.

I had a fabulous weekend, 'productive' in the manner i wished. I drew a bit, trying to get Akiko and i ahead in comics again. I got some cleaning done, though my place is still a bit of a mess. I also watched a ton of anime, trying to get through the pile i got over the holidays.

I broke my record on saturday. Previously, my record had been 22 episodes in one day. That was back in freshman year when i was watching Fushigi Yuugi with 2 friends. Fushigi Yuugi has a tendency to end each episode in this excrutiating cliff-hanger, so whenever i asked if my friends wanted to stop yet, they insisted upon another episode. and then another. and then another, and before you knew it, we had done a marathon of 22 eps. I've gotten close to my record, getting 20 eps in a day. But i shattered my record with 28 eps. I got the latest boxset of Yu Yu Hakusho, and planned to just watch half of it, but i was really getting into it, and it was still early enough, so i went ahead and finished watching it all. i've decided 28 eps is a bit much for one day, so i don't think i'll try to break my new record. still, i do know now that if i really want to, i could probably get a 26 ep series watched in one day.

My boys were utterly adorable this morning. I woke up sometime in the middle of the night with Genji curled up on me, and Romeo sprawled right beside me. Genji's been a bit of a brat and not spending the night on my bed recently, so i was happy just that he was on the bed at all. It was really too cute how we were all cuddled together. Romeo, however, didn't want me to get up in the morning. My alarm was going off, but he pinned me down.

I didn't get my PS2 yet, but i wanted to try to get through most of my stack of anime before turning my attention to video games. Considering how much of my pile i was able to get through this weekend, i'm feeling pretty good about picking up the console soon.

As i was going to bed, twice i turned the light back on to write down a few bits that came to mind. I heard a few voices that i hadn't heard in some time, so today's writing practice is a bit of dialogue between Dracula and Helsing from Eien no Momento. I think i'll likely go in somewhere in ch3 or 4.

Last week i did writting 3x (only posted 2 here). I've just gotten one for today, so hopefully i can get at least 3x this week, though i hope to write more than that.

anyway, here's Dracula and Helsing:

this is crap, but i'm getting too tired and cranky right now, so i'm posting it only because i want to have something written for today and i don't have the capacity to rewrite this right now. Tomorrow i plan on scrapping this and rewritting it, but for now, this is what i have for today's writting assignment.

I'm going back to my character Toshi, and trying to give a short blurb on holidays for him. Expect it to be redone for tomorrow's writting assignment.

Christmas has very little impact on Toshi, for the most part.

In the future, the Japanese will celebrate Christmas, though the holiday will turn into a day much more like our Valentines Day than what the West associates with Christmas. But for now, it is 1977 and though his family now lives in England, they do not celebrate Christmas.

So while the rest of the students at Hogwarts bustles with excitement over the coming holiday, Toshi is oblivious. The only manner in which Christmas has any affect on Toshi is that he is more frequently late for classes, as all the shiny Christmas lights that fill the Great Hall can easily distract him.

New Years, however, is a special day for him.

It is a day to be with your family and celebrate, and though Toshi’s grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins are all still in Japan, his family’s home is still bustling with people, as his parents, as diplomats, open their home to a large number of people.

His mother spends the week before preparing a huge feast. Toshi looks forward to the special mochi sweets that are only made for New Years. There is shabu shabu, sukiyaki, and lots of sushi. He can spend all day eating, and usually does.

More than food, however, Toshi looks forward to seeing his older sister, Sakura. Since she finished school and married, Toshi has seen very little of his beloved older sister.

Though he was born in Japan, Toshi has very little memory of his homeland. In the past, Sakura would pull him into her lap and wrap her arms around him, telling him all about how the family would celebrate New Years back in Japan.

They would stay up all night so they could see the first sunrise of the new year, then mother and Sakura would dress in kimono and the whole family would visit a shrine to pray for a good year.

“Will there be pie there?”

I look up, interrupted from my preparations. “Wha…?” I manage to get out. Despite my high intellect, whenever I am near this fellow I am reduced to such garbled mutterings, partly because he understands such a small percentage of my vast vocabulary, but mostly due to the feeling that whenever I am near him, my brain begins to melt out of my ears due to his incredible stupidity.

I recompose myself as best I am able. “No, there will not be pie there.”

“I want pie,” he announces. “I won’t do it if there isn’t pie there.”

I can feel the vein in my forehead twitch, a constant occurrence of recent times, ever since this buffoon was placed under my command. “You will do as you are told.”

“I want pie,” he repeated, insistently.

I consider for a moment blowing his head off and finding a new man to replace him, but I need a thug for this job now, and it cannot wait until I would be able to find a suitable replacement.

“If you do as you are told, you may have pie afterwards,” I concede, though I never said I would get any for him. He agrees, however.

The matter settled, we can continue with the mission as planned.

I can always kill him later, and perhaps my next henchman could have some small portion of intelligence besides the brute strength I need him for.

Starting off my goal of writting a little each day, I have a short sniplet of story that popped into my head based off a random saying from one of my friends this past weekend. There isn't anything more to it, but i just had this idea for two villians (an inteligent one and an idiot one) talking about pie.

This is a short little sniplet on a character i'm playing, and i thought i'd share. He's a rather...interesting...person, as i'm sure you'll be able to gather.

i bring you a short blurb on Satoshi Seki: )
